My (pending) Cookbook Update

My (pending) Cookbook Update

Still Baking, Still Writing

I’m not finished yet. I say as there is spilled juice on the floor right now.

That’s the truth of it. This cookbook I’ve been building — if you can even call it just a cookbook anymore — is still in progress. Still a live open tab in my mind, on the counter. Still getting stains on the pages. Still being added to in the middle of everyday life.

It started as recipes. Lists. Ideas scribbled down in notepads and margins. Things I wanted to remember, things I wanted to try, things I thought might be worth repeating one day.

But it hasn’t stayed just that.

Somewhere along the way, it became something more. A collection of meals and mistakes and moments. The time I accidentally added eggs into cookie dough. The way I never quite follow a recipe properly because I like to see what happens if I don’t. The way i've learnt mint doesn't quite go inside a curry (at all) or how you actually dont always need cheese to make a cheese sauce.. Yup learning and living thru every pot and every flip :p

I can say On Record I've perfected a pancake recipe FINALLY (stay tuned)

It’s becoming a record of life while I’m still living it.

And I think that’s what I love most about it — I’m not writing it from a distance. I’m writing it right in the middle of everything. Between parenting, between meals, between the noise and the quiet. I’m still in it.

I’m a mum, too. So there are days nothing gets done.

But I still want to create a cookbook that says: this is how I lived. This is how I experimented. This recipe is one of my favorite memories. This is what I learned by doing or not doing that. Adding pages when I can. Writing things down before they disappear. Letting it grow the same way life does — a bit messy, a bit funny, sometimes unexpected, always evolving.

It’s more than a cookbook now.

It’s a trace of a my life in motion.

And I’m still right in the middle of it.

Still baking.

Still writing.
