5 Ways to Make Kids’ Bedtime Less Stressful (Mum & Dad Edition) ✨
- Gratitude Doodle Time Together 🎨🖍️ Grab some crayons or markers 10 minutes before bed and have everyone draw one thing they loved about the day. A favourite toy, the yummy dinner, or even a silly face—anything goes! It turns whiny “I’m not tired!” moments into giggles and sweet connection. Quick, fun, and leaves everyone feeling happy. 🥰
- Cozy Storytime with Soft Lights 📖🌫️ Dim the lights, play gentle lullabies or rain sounds, and read a short story (or make one up!). This creates that magical wind-down feeling where bedtime becomes an adventure ending instead of a battle. You’ll all breathe a little easier. 😌
- Tomorrow’s Little Adventure Note 💌⭐ Together, whisper or jot down one exciting thing for tomorrow—like “park time!” or “pancake breakfast!” Pop a tiny drawing under their pillow if you want. It shifts their focus from fighting sleep to sweet anticipation. Such a simple win! 🌅
- Gentle Goodnight Body Hug Scan 🧸🛏️ Snuggle up and do a fun body scan: “Thank you toes for all the jumping today… thank you arms for all the hugs…” Add soft stretches or tickles. It calms wiggly bodies and busy minds, helping everyone feel safe and loved. Pure bedtime magic. 💕
- Phone-Free Snuggle Zone Rule 📵🐻 Keep screens out of the bedroom (yes, even for parents!). Use that time for cuddles, chatting, or just looking at the stars through the window. This cuts overstimulation and builds a calm, safe bubble for the whole family. Better sleep for everyone
- My TRUE (Top Secret) Weapon Warm some milk (soy full fat oat whatever floats around your home) add some milo or a sprinkle of sugar, it really helps calm the chaos! (mum and dads grab a cup too because its 10000000000 trillion times better than wine and will aid a good sleep for the gremlins in the morning) Side note - Ditch the microwave get the kids involved to burn their everlasting energy grab a pot and do it the old school way.. a memory I have from my grandma. Who always made me laugh, wiped my tears and got me some milk!!! I do this with my kids, Adding this into a restless night or every night gives time for soft chit chat, extra cuddles, bonding and independence 🌟
Quick note from me to keep you grounded, mama/dad: 💌 Some nights will still be messy—that’s totally normal. You’re not doing it wrong, you’re still showing up. Pick ONE of these to try tomorrow and go from there. Not perfection, just progress.
LOTS OF LOVE - The kids are our future LEADERS, Doctors, Fire Fighters, EVERYTHING!!!!!
Raise them Strong, Raise them KIND!
